This pack was made by Heinrich Friedrich Müller, Vienna, most probably between 1810 and 1815. The maker's name is on the King of Hearts.
The name comes from a popular Viennese story from the time, but only four of the pip cards actually show scenes from that story.
This is the original design of the pack, other makers in Great Britain, France, and the U.S.A. took it over and slightly modified it. From those, I am showing the pack made by Rudolph Ackermann, London. The main difference are the court cards.
