This is another pack called 'Deutsche-Reichs-Karte'. It was produced around 1880 by Ludwig & Schmidt in Halle a.S. The maker's name is on the Deuce of Acorns, where there is also the name of the pack.
The pack was named to commemorate founding of the German Imperial Reich. The court cards and Deuces show the standard single-faced Saxon pattern. On the pip cards are views from German towns, cities and famous places:
Eichel: | Hamburg, Wartburg, Marktplatz zu Halle (Halle market place), Baden Baden |
Grün: | Dresden, Hannover, Dom zu Erfurt, Lübeck |
Herz: | Berlin, Burg Hohenzollern (Hohenzollern castle), Befreiungshalle in Kelheim (Freedom Hall), Veste Coburg (Coburg fortress) |
Schellen: | München, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Mainz |
The pack in my collection is lacking the Deuces of Acorns and Hearts. I have replaced them with copies from my archive.
