home - cards from Hannover - taxes - collection - societies - my publications |
This pack was made around 1890 by C. T. Sutor Nachf. (successor) in Naumburg. The maker's name is on the Deuce of Hearts.
The pack shows the Prussian pattern in a single-faced version, as opposed to the double-figured version that had developed since around 1855. It is one of the latest single-faced Prussian pattern packs produced.
Most of the Deuces and pip cards show castles (or castle ruins), that is why this is often called 'Castle Pack' (as some similar packs by other makers). In the bottom line of these cards you can see what is shown.
Two of the cards are missing in my pack, the the King of Leaves and the Deuce of Hearts. I have replaced them by copies from my picture archive.
