home - cards from Hannover - taxes - collection - societies - my publications |
These cards were produced c. 1850 by Sommer & Seupke in Dresden. The maker's name is on the Eight of Hearts, the initials are on the Deuce of Acorns, and there is also the name of the pack.
The court cards are those of the standard single-figured Saxon pattern, but several pip cards show scenes differing from the standard. Note especially the steamer on the Seven of Acorns and the steam engine on the Nine of Hearts.
There is a tax stamp from Saxony on the Unter of Acorns. The cards are relatively dirty, so you will not recognize details very well.
