This pack was produced by C. G. Sutor in Naumburg around 1820. The name of the maker is on the Jack of Hearts. C. G. Sutor produced playing-cards from 1812 to 1823.
Packs of L'hombre cards have 40 cards -- the usual cards, but the 10s, 9s, and 8s missing, as those are not needed in the game L'hombre. The court cards show a version of one of the typical patterns with French suit signs used in Germany. Note the Prussian eagle on the shield of the Jack of Clubs.
The Prussian tax stamp on he Ace of Hearts was in use from 1816 to 1822, that confirms the dating of the cards.
