This pack was produced around 1876 by Tr. Knauts Kartenfabr. Inh. AD. Hempel in Weimar (Germany). The maker's name is on the Jack of Spades. The complete names are Traugott Knaut and Adolph Hempel.

The court cards show a German standard pattern from that time, see also the corresponding IPCS Pattern Sheet.

The Ace of Hearts shows a tax stamp that was in use 1875 to 1878 so that the pack can easily be dated. It is a pity that it is very much used.
