This pack has been produced by J. H. Grassau & Sohn in Braunschweig (Brunswick) around 1840. The maker's name is on the Jack of Clubs.

When you compare this pack to the Whist pack from Braunschweig (1) made by Friedrich Selwig you will notice that the pattern is identical. But when you look close you will notice minor differences. Selwig actually was the successor of Grassau.

The tax stamp on the Ace of Hearts was used in Braunschweig around 1840.
