home - cards from Hannover - taxes - collection - societies - my publications |
These cards were published in 1920 on a double page of a number of the German magazine Jugend, under the name given above. They were designed by the artist Erich Wilke.
As far as I know the cards were never printed as actual cards for playing.
The court cards show caricatures of people that were supposed to characterize the newly formed German Republic
not very well accepted by some people.
They are e. g.
- President Friedrich Ebert as King of Clubs
- Finance Minister Matthias Erzberger as King of Spades
- Clara Zetkin as Queen of Clubs
- Erich Mühsam as Jack of Spades.
