home - cards from Hannover - taxes - collection - societies - my publications |
These cards were made around 1835 by Crato & Comp. in Lüneburg. The maker's name is on the King of Diamonds.
The cards can rather easily be identified as there is a tax stamp on the Ace of Spades (not shown here). The stamp is from 1834 to 1859, and it was used for fine Whist cards. The cards show the so-called Hamburg pattern that you can also see in a pack by Meyer from Hannover.
It is a pity that the King of Clubs is missing. I have replaced it by a scan from an identical pack in my picture archives.
