home - cards from Hannover - taxes - collection - societies - my publications |
This pack was made by Rudolph Ackermann, London. It is one of the transformation packs that took over the designs of a similar pack by Müller, Vienna. This pack was published on plates with four cards each in the Repository of Arts, Literature, Fashion, etc. in 1818 and 1819, you can see one plate as an example.
The main difference to the Müller pack are the court cards, which have a background design in this pack. I am showing only those court cards, the pip cards are almost identical to those of the Müller pack. There are minor differences, but I will not go into that.
An explanation for the name 'Béatrice, or the Fracas' can also be found in the description of the Müller pack.
