Playing-card Tax Stamps in Indochina
Most of the following information is from Thierry Depaulis.
In Indochina (what is now Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos),
adhesive bands were used to seal the packages when it was a French colony.
That started in 1922 and ended most probably in 1946.
On the background of the bands the words 'DOUANES & REGIES DE L'INDOCHINE'
are repeatedly printed in violet letters. There were bands for Asian cards
('Portraits Asiatiques') and for French-suited cards
('Portraits français ou étranger').
The text on all bands is 'TAXE DE CIRCULATION POUR LES CARTES A JOUER', 'INDO CHINE'.

This band was used for Asian cards.
The text in the middle circle is 'R V C J' and '3' and '120 CARTES'.

This is a different sort of band used in Indochina, with green background text.
The text in the middle circle is 'PORTRAITS FRANÇAIS OU ÉTRANGERS' and
'CARTES A JOUER', and on the outer sides is 'DOUANES ET RÉGIES DE L'INDOCHINE'.

This is presumably a later sort of band used in Indochina.
The text on the background is now 'DOUANES ET REGIES' in blue colour.
The text in the middle circle is 'R V C J' and '6' and '112 CARTES', on the sides is
'CARTES A JOUER' and 'PORTRAITS ASIATIQUES'.
